Dolores D. Prochot

Dolores Dorothy Prochot passed away on August 30, 2021 surrounded by her family. Beloved wife of the late Frank, devoted mom to Michael and Sharon, Larry and Sandy, Laura and Michael Harvey and Kathy Prochot. Proud grandmother of Christopher, Frank and Amy, Matthew and Katie and Laura Marie. Surprised and pretty thrilled great-grandmother to George! Auntie to many nieces and nephews, confidant and counselor to many cousins, friends and neighbors from Cullerton Street to Monitor Avenue and beyond. Leaving behind many friends at Rosary Hill Home in Justice, Illinois. Dolores was successful in several careers over the years, from dental assistant to bank loan officer, in truth her family was her vocation. From tooling us around in her 1969 Toyota Corona back in the day to shopping for school uniforms and all-day meal prep, raising kids and spoiling grandchildren was her specialty. Favorite birthday cakes and recipes ( dumplings and pierogies were standouts) were a staple and coincided with the occasion and the celebrant. Special gifts for her grandchildren (over the protests of their parents) were a regular occurrence. Holidays were always filled with food (with more to take home), but Christmas at Grandmas was an event not to be missed (the mountain of wrapped boxes were empty until Santa rang the Magic Bell)! Quick to laugh and ready to scold you when necessary, hugs and kisses were the follow up. Education and homework were important but so were late night snacks and comic books. Similarly, she taught us how to pray but also let us in on some pretty good Polish cuss words too. She was always on the lookout for your health and well-being, making sure to ask how you were and following up as necessary no matter how she was feeling at the time. To the end, she was Mom and proud of it. She did it her way. She cared about everyone and without a doubt, everybody will miss her. In lieu of flowers, donations to Misercordia or Rosary Hill Home would be greatly appreciated. Visitation is Friday, September 3, 2021 from 9 AM until time of prayers at 11 AM at Foran Funeral Home. We will go in procession from the funeral home to Two Holy Martyrs Parish, St. Rene Goupil Church for an 11:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial. Interment Resurrection Cemetery.
