March 15, 1965 - October 7, 2020
Tamara G. “Tammy” Cordero, nee Hofstra, passed away unexpectedly at her summer home in Michigan while enjoying retirement with the love of her life, her wife, Julie. Tammy and Julie were together for 34 years and married for 6 years. Tammy was a proud U.S. Marine veteran having served our country for 8 years from 1983 to 1991. She worked for the 911 services for 27 years and most recently retired from WSCDC. Tammy was the beloved daughter of the late Edith and Jack Hofstra. She had a wonderfully large family. She was the oldest of 8 children. She will be dearly missed by her siblings, Duane (Cindy)Hofstra, Chandra (Brian) Plaggmeyer, Debbie (Sue)Hofstra, Jarrett (Tammy)Hofstra, Eric (Emily)Hofstra, Jonathan (Angie)Hofstra, Nick Hofstra and her Cordero family, her father-in-law, David, late mother-in-law Pauline and siblings, Esther (Lee) Jozwiak, Charles (Lourdes) and Gustavo (Lillian). She will be remembered lovingly by her many nieces and nephews, Logan, Joshua, Jacob, Jeremeiah, Josia, Sean, Jackson, Charlie and Kendra, Decklan and Ashley. Tammy lived graciously with a warm smile and a dry sense of humor, never saying no, always caring for others and putting herself second. She will always be a ray of sunshine in everyone’s lives and an example of a beautiful person. Tammy was extremely generous and continues to give to others in death. Her request was to donate her organs so that she can help other people live a better life. Visitation is Wednesday, October 14, 2020 from 1:30 PM until 5:30 PM at Foran Funeral Home, 7300 West Archer Ave. ( 55th street just west of Harlem). A Celebration of Life Service with Military Honors will be at 5 PM. In lieu of flowers please make donations in Tammy's memory to Goredforwomen.org, an organization with the American Heart Association that recognized heart disease in women.
