Elodia Gutierrez (née Barajas), age 103, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2026, in Berwyn, IL, surrounded by several generations of loving descendants. Born on June 19, 1922, in El Rancho del Zapote de la Peña to Teodoro Barajas and Cecilia Ibarra, Elodia lived a life defined by her unwavering Catholic faith, deep devotion to her family, and resilient spirit. Elodia was the beating heart of her home, devoting herself to raising the large family she and Fidel created. Her greatest happiness came from simple moments with her children and grandchildren. Her hands were rarely still; whether she was cooking traditional dishes that brought everyone to the table, crocheting beautiful pieces of art, reminiscing about her youth in El Rancho, or quietly offering comfort, her presence was a sanctuary. Her legacy of love, strength, and devotion will be carried forward by the family she held so dear. She is survived by her brothers, Gonzalo and Bulmaro Barajas; her children: Raymundo (Estefania), Salvador (Maria Delia), Primitivo (Adela), Celia Romero (Guadalupe), Margarita Gutierrez (Alberto Maciel), Irma Gutierrez (Juvenal), and Aurora Solorzano (Guillermo). She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren: Rigoberto (Cheryl), Raymundo (Sussana), Marco, Fidel (Maritza), Salvador (Fela), Delia (Fredy) Sanchez (née Gutierrez), Manuel, Miguel (Janet), Rafael (Kathleen), Daniel (Rochelle), Primitivo (Barbara), Miguel Angel (Abbey), Arturo (Christie), Rosa (Raul) Fernandez (née Gutierrez), Reginaldo, Guadalupe (Rogelio) Alcauter (née Gutierrez), Irma (Celso Brito), Gerardo (Elizabeth), Esmeralda (Michael) McMannon (née Gutierrez), Carmen (Donaciano) Sanchez (née Maciel), Fortunata (David) Saucedo (née Maciel), Josefa (Cesar) Garcia (née Maciel), Miguel Ángel Maciel, Luis Alberto Maciel, Ofelia (Martin) Rodriguez (née Romero), Eustorgio Romero, Leovardo (Marilu) Romero, José (Matilde) Romero, Guillermo Solorzano, Araceli (Kevin) Bouder (née Solorzano), Mirella (Kenny Cortez) Solorzano, and Jesus Solorzano; as well as her 67 cherished great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Fidel; her siblings, Jesus, Aurelia, Ramón, Ofelia, Teresa, Pilar, Abraham, and Federico; and her parents. Visitation is Sunday, February 22, 2026 from 4 PM to 8 PM at Foran Funeral Home, 7300 W. Archer Ave.(55th street just west of Harlem). Visitation at the funeral home on Monday from 8:30 AM until time of Prayers at 9:30 AM. We will go in procession from the funeral home to Blessed Martyrs of Chimbote Parish, St. Blasé Church for a 10:00 AM Mass. Interment Resurrection Cemetery
